Sharon's Story

Sharon lived with other people in a residential home. Sharon became ill and doctors needed to do some tests to find out what was wrong. Sharon was worried.

Sharon's sister said she would give consent on behalf of Sharon to have the tests done.

David, her advocate spent time looking at the law about giving consent for people with learning disabilities and talked to doctors and the NHS help line.

He was able to give advice to Sharon and her support worker.

David decided to write up all the information he had found to share with other people who may be in the same situation.
